Prof. Dr. Robert Zeiser (B09) receives the 2024 DKMS Mechthild Harf Science Award from the DKMS Stiftung Leben Spenden (Foundation for Giving Life) as honour for his outstanading research work in the field of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. CRC 1160 member Susana Minguet (B01) investigates the effect of a novel mutation in Lck on TCR signaling, T-cell function, and differentiation in patients with combined immunodeficiency (CID).

When autoimmune diseases occur in childhood and are accompanied by swollen lymph glands or an enlarged spleen, this indicates a congenital disorder of the immune system. The exact diagnosis is difficult, but crucial for therapy. A study by  Stephan Ehl (A01) at the the Centre for Chronic Immunodeficiency, Medical Center – University of Freiburg has now provided new insights into autoimmune lymphoproliferative diseases in children.

The findings of the CRC 1160 member, Susana Minguet (B01), address an important question and provide some clear directions for the use of the λ-chain locus.

Gamma-delta T cells represent a distinctive subset within the T cell family, and their implications in cancer have been under rigorous investigation. A recent study, led by CRC 1160 member Sagar (B08 and Z02), involved researchers from the Medical Center – University of Freiburg, including Maike Hofmann (CRC 1160, A02) and Robert Thimme (CRC 1160, A02), and Institut Curie Paris, shedding light on the diversity and tissue residency of gamma-delta T cells across various organs in mice.
